Sacred Heart Church Timber Reconstruction
Lancaster Painters Australia professionally hand polished timber throughout the Sacred Heart Church including the wooden cross, doors and door frames, the lectern and the timber in the organ loft. The timber of the organ loft included the front entrance organ loft ceiling (underneath section of the organ loft), the wooden balustrade, the wooden decorative prayer rails and the pipe organ. Using our artistic wood graining skills, we touched up the damaged areas in the timber of the Lectern, matching the original wood grain.
All timber surfaces were dusted down and sensitively washed using sugar soap and water. They were given a further washing with clean water and allowed to dry. Finally, we applied two coats of clear to the timber.
We meticulously applied decorative finish effects to the timber. – including painting gold stencils with gold pin striping on the timber of the front entrance organ loft ceiling. Next, we applied a touch of gold with a hand painted marble effect to the pilasters. And finally, we painted the old Sunbeam fans and gave the crosses carved in the timber a special “touch of gold”.
